Posting a New Announcement

Posting a New Announcement

To post a new announcement, click the “+Create Announcement” button at the top right of the Announcements page.

When composing an announcement, the teacher has the following options:
  1. Title: Announcement titles show at the top of each community and are important for letting students know the content of the announcement. Just like posts, announcement titles are optional.
  1. Body: Type the main text of your announcement here. This field may also include web links or YouTube links. To embed a web link or YouTube video, copy and paste the url here and hit “enter” or “space.” A link summary will be generated and embedded in your announcement.
  1. Summary: Teachers can write a summary of their announcement that will show when the announcement is expanded in the community stream view.
  1. Attachment: Attachments are files attached to announcements. The maximum size for an uploaded file is 500 megabytes. MySciLife natively supports the following formats, although other file types can be added as attachments (500 mb limit)
    1. Images: gif, jpg, jpeg, png
    2. Video: avi, m4v, mov, mp4, mpg, wmv
    3. Audio: mp3, wav
    4. Documents: doc, pdf, rtf, txt

Announcements require only body text when finished composing the announcement, click “Submit Announcement.”
