Interacting with Posts

Beneath the body of the post are buttons you can use to interact with posts. They are:

  1. Responses: If other students have clicked emoticon responses to this post, they will be counted here. The counter on each emoticon counts how many different identities have responded in this way. 
Tip: Each identity can only have one emoticon response to an individual post. Clicking another emoticon changes your previous choice.
Note: Click replaces hover on mobile devices.
  1. Comment Counter: If other identities have commented to this post, the number of comments will appear in the comment counter in the small voice callout. Click this button This button expand all comments below the post.

  2. Bookmark: Click this button to save a post to your collection of bookmarks.
Tip: If you do not have time to write a comment now, but you want to return to this post easily, this is a handy way to find it again in a busy Main Stream! You can also use a Bookmark to follow a conversation that you have started in the comments on that post.
  1. Share: Click this link to share your post (or your student’s post) from a community to the Main Stream.

    Rules for sharing:
    1. If you’re a student, you can only share your own work. You can share your work to and from any community in which you are a member.
    2. If you’re a teacher, you can share any of your stuff, anything written by any of your students, and you can share those to any community, the Main Stream, or in the Teacher Community. This gives teachers the opportunity to share examples of excellent work between classes or with other teachers.
The default setting for the Share drop-down is the Main Stream, if you click the drop-down, you’ll see a list of all the places to which you can share posts.
  1. Options: Click this button to see all available options for the post. These may include: Edit, View Teacher Feedback, and/or Send Message depending on who created the post. Note: If posts are being moderated, any edited post will be resubmitted for moderation.

  2. Comment Box: Below the post is a comment box where the user can “join the discussion.” Click in this box and begin typing to add a comment. When finished, click the "Add Comment" button to submit your comment. Remember: most comments are subject to teacher moderation before appearing.
Note: In the case where comments have been turned off in a community, this box will not show.
