Posts (Community) Stream View

When you’re viewing any community, including the Main Stream you won’t see full posts. Instead, you’ll see the first 300 characters of the post, along with an overview of information.

  1. Title: The title of the post will appear in blue. Clicking on the title will open the expanded view of the post in a shadowbox.

  2. Identity Name & Avatar: Just below the post title (if present) is the name and avatar of the identity that made the post. Clicking on either the identity name or avatar will open that identity’s profile page.

  3. Post Date: The date the post was created appears beneath the identity name.

  4. Post Body: The first 300 characters of the post appear here. Clicking on the post body will open the expanded view of the post in a shadowbox.

  5. Post Attachment: If the post contains an attachment it will appear beneath the post body in one of four formats, depending on what type of file has been attached to the post.
    1. Images: An image thumbnail will appear. Click the thumbnail to open the expanded view of the post in a shadowbox.
    2. Video & Audio: A streaming player will appear. Use the streaming controls to adjust playback.
    3. Document Link: A blue hyperlink appears. Click the hyperlink to view the document attachment.
    4. Link Summary: If the post includes a hyperlink, there will be a summary of the link and link title. Click the link summary to open the link in a new tab.
Note: Some websites, like YouTube, may be blocked by your school. In this case, we recommend attaching content like video directly to Posts and uploading the content directly to MySciLife (as opposed to embedding from YouTube.)
